The RDI Certificate in Decentralization, AI & Web3 Technology Innovations offers UC Berkeley students the opportunity to grow their knowledge and skills in this emerging space through a series of carefully designed classes and experiences. We offer six different tracks wallowing you to dive deeper into a category that excites you the most. The skills and network you build through participating in one or more of these tracks will aid in setting you up for success in this rapidly growing industry of Decentralization, AI and Web3.
Certificate Requirements
6 Units total from a combination of Track Specialization Courses and/or RDI Approved Courses & Volunteer Activities. See Track Specialization options below. (Note that this certificate is issued from Berkeley RDI and will not be part of a student’s transcript.)
Any of the 3 courses listed below (at least 3 units in total)

Certificate Completion
RDI Certificate Completion Application form. pplications will be reviewed once after the end of each term. Eligible participants will receive their RDI Certificate via email within one month of the grade posting deadline. Please note if you do not submit your application by the grade posting deadline, your application may not be reviewed until the end of the following term. All the certificates need to be earned prior to graduation. If you have any questions, please contact the RDI team at rdi_info@berkeley.edu.
FAQ
- Who is eligible for the certificate?
- The Certificate is available for any currently enrolled UC Berkeley students. All our current students are welcome from throughout the campus! Notice that some of the courses are not open to all students.
- Unfortunately, the certificate is not available to those not affiliated with the campus.
- For the RDI & Xcelerator Fellows tracks, learn more about the volunteer opportunities and apply, via this form.
- Can I earn a certificate in more than one track?
- Yes
- Do I need to submit an application before I take the classes?
- No. You only need to submit the completion application, which should be submitted in the term that you will be completing the requirements or later.
- For courses not on the approved course list, please submit those petition requests here, prior to taking the course.
- Can I count the same courses towards my major/minor toward the certificate? Is it okay if they overlap?
- We will accept courses for the certificate overlap with your major/minor requirements.
- Do I need to receive a minimum grade for these courses?
- Students must successfully complete coursework applied toward the certificate by earning a C or better for letter graded courses and Satisfactory or Pass for non-letter graded courses. If the course is offered for a letter grade, it should be taken for a letter grade in order to count towards the certificate requirements.
- How long will it take to receive my certificate after submitting the Certificate Completion Application?
- After the end of each term, RDI will review the Certificate Completion Applications. We do not review applications throughout the term. If you submit your application after the end of the semester review, your application will not be reviewed until the end of the following semester.
- Eligible participants will receive their certificate as a pdf via email within approximately one month after the end of the term. If your application is not approved, you will receive an email with that information.
- For graduating seniors, please note that the certificate must be earned prior to graduation.
